Kosovo’s ruling party hit with fines over nasty election remarks

Pristina, January 16, 2025 – Kosovo’s ruling party, Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV), has been slapped with a 3,000-euro fine after Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s shocking comments about political rivals.

The Election Panel for Complaints and Appeals (PZAP) ruled that Kurti violated political conduct rules by using foul language against opposition parties during campaign rallies. The opposition Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës (LDK) presented videos of Kurti calling them offensive names, leading to the fine.

But it doesn’t stop there! LDK is also on the hook for a massive 20,000-euro fine after one of their candidates compared Kurti to Adolf Hitler, further intensifying the bitter political feud.
