Kosovo’s election campaign begins with new voting rules

PRISTINA, January 11, 2025 – Kosovo has officially started its election campaign for the 9 February parliamentary elections, introducing important changes to voting procedures.

For the first time, the election silence period will be shorter. It will now last only 12 hours on polling day, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., instead of beginning the day before.

This election also allows voters to choose up to ten candidates along with their preferred party, compared to five in previous years.

More than two million citizens are eligible to vote, including over 100,000 Kosovans abroad. These voters can send their ballots by post until 8 February or vote in person at embassies and consulates on the same day.

The election is expected to bring significant political changes as Kosovo faces key challenges.
