Dec 2, 2024 - Kosovo’s police have arrested a ninth person in connection with the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc water channel in Zubin Potok, which occurred on November 29.
The suspect, identified as J.V., was detained on the evening of December 1. Authorities believe he played a significant role in the attack, which targeted critical infrastructure using explosives weighing up to 20 kilograms. J.V. has been placed under a 48-hour detention.
A search of his home uncovered weapons, including hand grenades, a hunting rifle, ammunition, and military gear, suggesting possible ties to criminal or militant groups.
The Ibër-Lepenc channel is vital for supplying water to northern Kosovo, including the Mitrovica and Pristina areas. The attack has raised concerns about the security of critical infrastructure in the region.
While the situation in northern Kosovo remains calm, authorities stress that it is fragile. Additional security measures are in place following the attack. Police previously arrested eight other suspects in connection with the assault in Varrangë, a village in Zubin Potok.
The investigation continues as tensions in the region rise.
