Pristina, December 20, 2024 – Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama have signed a significant agreement today for the Mediterranean Olympic Games. The deal, reached during a joint parliamentary session in Pristina, strengthens cooperation between the two countries in preparing for the event.
The meeting between the two leaders lasted just five minutes, but it was followed by a joint lunch with members of both parliaments. A total of 130 lawmakers attended the session—70 from Kosovo and 60 from Albania—showing the importance of the occasion.
This is the second time that the parliaments of Kosovo and Albania have met together. The first was in November 2022 in Albania, ahead of the 110th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The signing of the agreement comes at a time when joint meetings between the two governments have been rare. A planned session in Gjakova in June 2023 was cancelled after disagreements between the two prime ministers.
