Why Sali Berisha is bringing Lulzim Basha once again to the public attention?

Four days prior to the local elections day, a television channel with close ties to Sali Berisha’s family, published an edited video, which implied a meeting had happened between Sali Berisha and Taulant Balla last year. Furthermore, Berisha claimed that such negotiations were the cause for his and the opposition’s loss in the May 14th elections.

While it is true that Sali Berisha is going to lose the local elections, what he claims to be the cause of this loss is entirely his invention. Apart from being badly edited, the recently published video shows also an even darker side that Berisha continues to use in order to blackmail his opponents. Lately, as he runs out of excuses regarding why polls have placed him in a much worse position than Lulzim Basha, he has realized that he needs to bring him back to the public’s eye. In other words, Berisha needs to excuse himself in front of Democrats regarding his loss in the local elections by blaming Lulzim Basha.

On the other hand, there seems to be a general content in the opposition’s ranks for finding a reason to justify their failures. This should serve as a lecture for many opposition members, including Lulzim Basha, who decided not to fight Sali Berisha in the current electoral campaign and left him to lose without their help.

Sali Berisha does not function like a normal politician, or like a normal political institution. He has never had much need for truth, except for his own invented “truths.” Therefore, those who did not participate in the anti-Berishian campaign, apart from helping win a few votes for no reason, will naturally have to face his vile attacks and be blamed for his loss.

Sali Berisha’s need to blame Lulzim Basha and his other opponents within the Democratic Party is not based on facts as long as his supporters consider only his words as true facts. Then, with Berisha not being a normal politician or a normal human being, he does not need to rely on truth as long as he can invent his own. Among his latest invented truths was the ugly video published recently in order to tell people that he was once more “betrayed” by Lulzim Basha.

Hence, on May 15th we should expect a new battle against Lulzim Basha, which will potentially see the latter return as leader of the Democratic Party. While Edi Rama will continue to work unworriedly with his government, Berisha will continue his struggle to destroy the Democratic Party.
