Sali Berisha's blackmail against western ambassadors is his newest lie prior to elections

The ambassador of the United States and that of Great Britain became once more the target of Sali Berisha’s attacks, as the latter tried to justify his designation as non-grata by both countries prior to the local elections. Unlike the first days of his struggle against the West, it seems that Berisha has run out of the argument that he has used so far to persuade his Democrat followers.

Shortly after his and his family’s designation as non-grata by the State Department, Sali Berisha’s main argument was that he was going to sue Anthony Blinken in a French court. For several months, he kept his followers informed regarding the expected trial, claiming that the process would launch in a very short time. There were even a few intellectuals from his party that considered Berisha’s strategy as genial. Now that that one and a half year has passed, “broken hearted Democrats” have realized that they were lied and used for Berisha’s personal battle against the US.

Then he found a more useful enemy like Lulzim Basha and shifted the accumulated hatred towards him. Berisha claimed that Basha was an agent of the United States and of Edi Rama and that they had plotted together to have him sanctioned by the State Department.

However, when he was designated as non grata by the Great Britain, under concrete accusations of using incriminated individuals to spark political violence, Berisha tried to blame the British Ambassador, Alistair King-Smith, who started to work in Albania a few months after Berisha’s sanctioning by the Great Britain.

Seeing how all of his excuses amounted to nothing, now Berisha has entered a new phase and is blackmailing the US and British Ambassadors. He claims that they have been bought by the Albanian government and that he will release the evidence himself at a later time. This offense against the United States and Great Britain should be enough for Berisha to permanently remain in their black lists. Claiming that the representatives of the US and Great Britain are bought by the Albanian government is a major insult towards these dignity of these countries.

Personally, I understand that the two diplomats must obey their ethical code and cannot allow themselves to debate with individuals designated as non-grata by their countries. However, Albanian authorities need to save their own dignity when they hear Berisha’s public accusations of the British and US Ambassadors. Furthermore, the statement was made on record and this should be enough for our institutions to launch an investigation regarding this scandal, while interviewing Sali Berisha and search through his office and house for the so-called evidence.

This is the only way to save the dignity of the Albanian state. What other facts does the prosecution need in order to interview Sali Berisha, either to prove his accusations or find out if he is simply blackmailing the two Western diplomats?

Sali Berisha claims that he has facts and alludes even of evidence of possible sexual scandals that involve western diplomats in Albania. Therefore, the prosecution should interview him and take over his computers and phones in order to either shed light on the facts, or arrest him for blackmail.

The dignity of Albania’s major allies cannot be muddled by an anti-Western politician, who is designated as non-grata under accusations of corruption, having undermined the country’s democracy and blackmailing the justice system. This is a clear evidence of Berisha’s blackmailing of the justice system. Even if there are no other facts, there is his recent public statement. The prosecution needs only to sequester all of his devices and search for his “facts,” or arrest him for blackmailing two ambassadors for political purposes.

At the end of the day, this pressure against the US and British Ambassadors is what Berisha needs in order hold Democrats in line, until he has fully destroyed his opposition in the party; an opposition that actually defends the dignity of the West not only in the name of Democrats, but also in the name of Albanians.

Unfortunately, through its lack of initiative, our justice system is siding with Sali Berisha, similarly to how the state police advise him to respect the European guests on December 6th and keeps asking him for information regarding where the protest will be located that day.
