A detail that shows the true face of Berisha's "party"

In the middle of the aggressive campaign between political activist Evi Kokalari and Sali Berisha’s supporters there is no room for debates regarding conservative and sovereign ideologies, since they were never part of what brought the two together. They did not unite one year ago to make the Democratic Party more conservative, but rather to support Sali Berisha in the darkest days of his political career as he and his family were designated as non-grata by the State Department, under accusations of corruption, undermining the country’s democracy and racketeering of the justice system.

Having found himself abandoned by everyone, following Lulzim Basha’s decision to expel him from DP’s parliamentary group, Sali Berisha launched a campaign against the US sanctions, while using the fight against Basha as a cover-up. Berisha’s entire struggle aimed to prove that he could raise an anti-American sentiment in Albania, even though it all remains a lie to this day, while Berisha continues to try buying public support.

The only important detail in Evi Kokalari’s debate is that she claims to have been invited by Sali Berisha’s son to take part in their campaign. This says a lot about Berisha’s tribal politics as well as his financial and family engagement in an expensive campaign, the funding of which has never been declared. The fact that the most zealous activist of this campaign has been contracted directly by Shkelzen Berisha, shows that the entire campaign was nothing more than a private family project, with mercenaries bought by the family’s treasurer to fight against the US sanctions.

Naturally, Berisha’s campaign includes individuals who find themselves in the same boat as well as those who believe that the Democratic Party is in need of a new political identity, entirely different from the one on which it was founded. There are also thieves and delusional individuals who are taking advantage of the attention that is being given them and the fact that Berisha considers them as good orators in his meetings.

Truth is that Berisha’s family and their decades of political corruption in Albania remain at the heart of this political action. Evi Kokalari shared her claim spontaneously, perhaps in an attempt to prove how important her engagement was that it deserved the direct invite of Sali Berisha’s son. Now let us imagine for a moment the same strategy being applied if Berisha returned to power. His son would be inviting his friends to appoint them in important public offices.

This is nothing more than a family of thieves, that has just lost its financial paradise and through millions of stolen money is trying to fight the West in Albania. It all becomes obvious when you see who follows them, which academics turn into protesters for their cause or the civil activists fighting more harshly than a military group and above all when one of them states publicly how she was invited by the family to engage in their anti-West campaign. This is a gang under the payroll of Berisha’s family. As a matter of fact, this is the first time that they are paying others, since historically it has been others who have paid for their family.
