Albanian PM, Edi Rama, who is attending a conference dubbed "Investment opportunities in renewable energy in the Western Balkans" being hosted in Belgrade, said that this was an excellent opportunity and a necessity at a time when the war in Ukraine has had an impact on markets and inflation.

"The energy crisis made us look beyond our borders. There's no doubt that in these difficult times, what we've said before when we launched the Open Balkans initiative and when we encouraged a wider cooperation, is becoming more and more concrete. We should look beyond our borders, otherwise we will remain in our small markets and what we need could turn out to be more expensive," Rama said.

The conference dubbed "Investment opportunities in renewable energy in the Western Balkans" will bring together Western Balkan leaders and representative of the largest energy companies in Norway to discuss investments in hydro energy, solar energy and energy generated through the wind in Western Balkan countries with the aim of pushing joint efforts for green transition in the area of energy.
