Albania sees rise in trade volumes with neighbouring countries

June 23, 2024 - In May, Albania’s trade patterns with neighboring countries changed significantly, according to the latest data from the country’s office for statistics, INSTAT. Trade within the region constituted 10% of Albania’s total exchanges. Kosovo emerged as Albania’s primary trading partner, yielding a surplus of 2.7 billion ALL. Conversely, Serbia led in imports, resulting in a deficit of around 645 million ALL.

Albania boasted trade surpluses with North Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Exports surged notably to North Macedonia and Kosovo, amounting to 3.8 billion ALL and 1.3 billion ALL, respectively. However, exports to other regional countries saw a decline.

Imports showed a mixed trend: while imports from Kosovo increased by 9% to 1.15 billion ALL, imports from Montenegro dropped by 11%, and from Serbia by 33%.
