Albania's government expects more than 9 million foreign tourists to visit the country this year, prime minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday.
“If the upward trend continues until December, we may even reach 10 million tourists, but we will anyway exceed the 9 million mark this year,” Rama said in a social media post.
Albania saw an annual rise of 27% in foreign tourist numbers in the first eight months of the year, to 7.19 million, the tourism ministry said earlier. The country had population of around 2.7 million as of the beginning of 2023, the statistical office said in June.
In 2022, as many as 7.5 million foreign tourists visited Albania, up 33% compared with the previous year. (SeeNews)
