Lights, camera, Balkans: Pogradec welcomes Film and Cuisine Festival

June 26, 2024 — Last night, Pogradec came alive with the opening of the Balkan Film and Cuisine Festival, set against the backdrop of Lake Ohrid. Over the next five days, this picturesque city will host filmmakers, producers, and cinema lovers from across the Balkans.

The festival kicked off at the "Odeon" with the premiere of "Sophie," directed by Eduard Grishaj, a film already gaining acclaim. Festival founder Eno Milkani emphasized not just the competitive screenings, but also the chance for participants to enjoy carefully restored classics spanning comedy and poignant dramas exploring themes of youth and aging.

As the festival unfolds, anticipation grows for the June 29th awards ceremony, where outstanding films across various genres will be recognized. Beyond movies, the event aims to promote cultural exchange through a shared passion for film and cuisine, making it a vibrant celebration in the heart of the Balkans.
