Gjirokastër Castle sees 45% surge in visitors, becoming top Albanian tourist spot

Gjirokastër, July 23, 2024 – The Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Gjirokastër has reported a remarkable 45% increase in visitor numbers to Gjirokastër Castle.

According to the DRTK, the castle continues to attract a growing number of tourists, with a significant rise in visitors from January to July 2024. This surge has solidified Gjirokastër Castle as a top tourist destination in Albania.

Over the past seven months, the castle has welcomed 100,000 visitors, a notable 31,000 more than during the same period last year. This boost underscores the castle’s appeal and growing popularity among tourists from around the globe.
